Recommendations

Farm Lodges Olive is quietly located about 25 minutes from Faro, there is plenty to do in the area. From cycling to walking tours, grabbing a nice beach or maybe walking around in a town or on a market?

We have listed a few of our favorites and of course there are more recommendations that we would like to share with you.

Beaches

The Algarve is known for its beautiful beaches, and there are certainly plenty that we don't know about. The nearest beach is Praia da Fuseta Ria (10 minutes) a lovely bay with beach tent Borda D'Água. From this beach you look at Ilha de Fuseta (Praia da Fuseta mar), the "real" beach of Fuseta with a view of the Atlantic Ocean. In the summer months you can take the ferry from Fuseta to this island (5 minutes). A little further east of Fuseta is Praia Barril, a beautiful wide beach where you can be taken to the beach by train through the Ria Formosa. If you prefer a wide beach without a beach tent in the middle of the Ria Formosa, then Cacela Velha is the beach for you! As I said the Algarve is full of great beaches some of the most popular beaches in the area are: Praia da Ilha de Tavira, da Armona, da Culatra, Ilha do Farol and Praia de Faro.

Restaurants

The area offers many restaurants, something for everyone. Because olhão and Fuseta are fishing villages, they have many great fish restaurants. Maresia, Iguarias da Vila and Adega do Sal are three restaurants in Fuseta where you can find something for the meat and fish lover (so no one has to sacrifice).

On the boulevard of Olhão you have  Mogno - Your natural choice, Hola Torito - Restaurant Mexicano and Cestaria - Bistro de Artesão. Three different restaurants from the same owner. Do you prefer Italian? Then Pizza na Pedra and Doca's pizza are definitely recommended.

In addition to the luxurious restaurants, you also have the local restaurants where you can order a "Prato do dia" starting from €9. This is a full meal including drinks and coffee. Cantinho da Serra is a traditional Portuguese restaurant in the mountains of Santa Catarina da Fonte Bispo, with a beautiful view over the mountain peaks that suround it.

Our Favourites:

- Casa Corvo

- Hola torito

- Antonio

- Fasian Ya

- Costa do Sol

- Vai d'Vela (Bar)

- Ti Maria Panoramico (Bar, pool and tapas)

Towns

Strolling through the streets of the towns and villages in the area is wonderful, so you really get the lifestyle of the locals. All cities and/or villages are different. For example, Olhão and Fuseta are real fishing villages and Faro is the "capital" of the Algarve. Tavira is located next to the Gilão river, which is why they call it the Venice of the Algarve. The last town before the Spanish border is Vila Real de Santo António, a nice town that is best known for its textile shops such as: towels, bed linen, sheets, etc. If you also want to see the west coast, we recommend going to Sagres for the surfing beaches and “the end of the world”. Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos are also nice cities.

Are you staying a little longer in Portugal? And do you want to visit a larger city? Then The next big city is an hour and a half away… and that is Seville in Spain!

Two of the nicest flea markets in the area are Fuseta and Algarve Stadium.
Our favourites:

- Fuseta (2nd sunday)

- Loule (Every saturday)

- Olhao (Every saturday, halls)
